someone chopped up my factory trailer connection ive found the tail turn stop reverse and trailer brake wire there is a red and tan wire that is always hot i need to know what its for and a black wire that i assume is for the ground any help appreciated i looked on the search but had no luck MY truck is 97 4x4 2500 thanks

The red/tan wire is used to supply B+ to recharge the trailer batteries when in tow. For TT and 5vers this is done with the use of the on board converter/charger in the trailer. The black is a ground. Just an FYI my B+ wire is only powered up when the ignition is on to prevent discharging the truck battery when the engine is not running

If you need to know where to hook up the wires to various connectors, ceck out marksrv.com, just don't trust their wiring colors. They did not match the colors on my 97 dodge, but theirr description and pin location was correct.
