Towing performance (Good and Bad) *long*

I have been looking at the trailerAire fifth wheel hitch. It has an air bag and shock absorber to cushion the ride in the fifth wheel. Has anybody any experience with this hitch?

I have been working with Trailair for 8 months now on one for my Automate with a Atwood pin box which they did not have one for. I am told it was shipped last Wednesday so I will have some feed back very soon I hope. A friend of mine has it on his Wildwood and said it was a help but I need to try it myself to be sure. Automate now makes there own air ride pinbox to go with there air ride suspension and is having very good success with it. Here is there web site to check out, if you want something custom they can build it. http://www.automaterv.com/

They have them at Camping World. $1200 plus $90 installation fee. Also sell warranty. $129 for one year. $230 two year. That's a steep warranty price on something new. Why wouldn't they warrant it for the first year at least as part of sales price. Tells me they're not sure about it. They sure look like they'd be helpful, but think I'll wait til they're proven reliable.

I just spoke with my contact at Trailair and it comes with a 5 year warranty, this is a new product at camping world and the person might not have been familiar with it or was trying to sell a warranty be on the Trailair warranty.

BPINE, That's weird. It's in their catalog. Hmmm.

Let me know how it works out for you. I may be interested in getting one myself.

Will do mike, The guy at Trailair said the same thing about the catalog when I talked to him. He said it needs to be fixed.

I ordered the trailair and it arrived today. Hope to have time this weekend to install. Will be going to Tennessee in two weeks, will report back with an opinion.

I did order it direct from Trailair and it was MUCH cheaper than Camping World. Also, was told that if i was not satisified, it could be returned for a full refund.

It is real heavy, 200+#s. Oh, and I called the 5er mfg. for their opinion on installing on my 5er, and they said no problem.

Charley, they look good and may do the job, but, at more than double (almost triple) the cost of a trailair. Then again , maybe you get what you pay for, just a little pricey for me to justify.
