I picked one of these up a few months ago from Desert Diesel and have yet to get it installed. My question is regarding the anti-drain back valve that is included. I've heard that this needs to removed cause the 2001. 5 already have one and no need to double up the valves. If this is tru how do I go about doing this w/o leaving anything to clog up the line? I have heard drilling works but just can't see that getting it all out.

One key question is where is your check valve?



Get the SS replacement line for the rubber line with the check valve. Just have a SS line made up the same length or order it from DTT or others.



In my 2002 there is a check valve in the out going side of the heat exchanger.

How about just taking the piece out and go down to your local farm/hydraulic supply house and have them make you up a plain piece of hose and put it in there . That should work out pretty good. Besides , I understand Dodge won't sell that check valve by itself. They made my friend buy the whole line to get one . Sounds like a good trade item :D
 
95 cooler line

When I got my line from Fred he had already removed the check valve for me, But my friend who bought one from Fred did not have his removed, a small aligning punch, a scribe and needle nose pliers. Use the punch to pop the rubber ball out, and the scribe and needle nose to remove the spring. Dont forget to wear safety glasses... The inlet fitting in the cooler which is the one the line attaches already has the check valve, at least on the 01.

I might not be correct as to where the cooler installed check valve is (input side or output side), have not gotten "up close and personal" with it yet.

Here's how I did mine. I took an old piece of metal brake line (or fuel line) and cut the end off with a pipe cutter. This left a nice sharp end. I put it in a drill and used it to chew up the rubber ball. I snagged the spring with a screwdriver or something, if I remember right. None of this cost me anything extra, and it was quick and easy.
