We have a Trane XE1000 heat pump that has occasionally popped the breaker and quit but would always restart. Last two nights have been the coldest yet (mid-40s) - enter Murphy. Now it won't operate at all. Turn the thermostat down, reset the breaker, wait, turn the thermostat up, heat comes on for 60 seconds, breaker pops.

Anybody have any suggestions or should I call the Trane man?

It's likely not the problem, but the breaker could be worn after all the pops. It might be worth swapping it out once the problem with the Trane is figured out.

Breakers don't like to pop but they have to. It shortens their life. Call the Trane guy as there is probably another problem in the system causing the breaker to pop. Think of the breaker as an "Idiot Light"

Just my speed.

Maybe I'll ask the Trane guy if we can put gauges on the A/H - boost & pyro. That I can understand. Thanks for the feedback y'all.

I had to have my Trane worked on earlier this winter . Mine end up having a bad igniter or something like that . The unit just stoped working it went into its its some kind of limp mode and of corse it was the weather was colder than usual when it decided to crap out . They should be able to trouble shoot it easer since they work on them every day good luck.
