My transfer case will not go into neutral, with the rear end jacked up put case in neutral and you can't turn rear wheels without a clunking/grinding like the corners of gears are still just meshing a little. At local Bomb party this weekend I tried to put it in neutral and started the engine, most horrible noise ever heard.

Is there an adjustment or do I have something like a bent shift fork or something like that.

Also a while back when I put it into 4wheel low range and started pulling the rear tires spun and front didn't do anything until I pulled back toward neutral and then slammed the lever forward again, no bad noises but only had low range 2 wheel drive, don't know if these troubles are related or not.

Thanks in advance,

Caleb

Just a thought - have you checked the linkage between the lever and the t-case? Could be worn or missing a pin?? There are two shift rods coming out of the 'case that the linkage moves. Possibly only one is being shifted. NP205's are usually bulletproof, but I have had one that would give me 2 low once in a while when I wanted 4 low. Hopefully it's something external, not internal.

When going from low to hi or hi to low, I try to shift the case when I'm just barely rolling. It shifts easier when the gears are in motion.

I hope this helps some. :)

No adjustments..........

can be made, but like JFitz said, it's probably the linkage, specifically the pins that hold the cross-piece on, or the cross-piece itself may be worn out. They are a PIA to get to, usually. I have seen them worn almost in two on some trucks. It would be hard to bend the shift rod, it's pretty beefy, but you might have bent the bracket that the shifter is mounted on, or the bolts may have come loose. I know mine is a pain to shift sometimes, gotta give it a kick every now & then to remind it who's boss.
