yes , if its not installed properly you will have an ill shifting transmission ...

i have seen the instructions , some things are a bit vague , and i hear transgo tech help is a bit lacking ... do a search , you'll find members with past experience .

Transgo kit

Thanks for the advise.

The local transmission GURU installed mine. Even though he had installed several before mine, he had some adjustment to do to get it right.

I haven't pulled a load with it yet, but so far I'm very happy. The transmission is shifting quicker and more firmly. It seems to know the best time to shift. Often, with the stock transmission if you stood on it in 3rd gear it would wind W A Y out (3,000 rpm) before grabbing fourth. Now it drops into fourth at a more desireable 2500 RPM. At 3/4 throttle at pretty much shifts right at 2,000 RPM so it's staying in the torque sweet spot.

It's also nice to have the command shift. You can select first or second and it will drop down regardless of speed. This is good and bad. Good if you are going downhill and want to drop into first at 25 MPH (the stock one won't. The bad news is that you can command it to go into first at 50 MPH and that would be bad.

Of course the manual shift guys can do the same thing so I suppose as long as you have a brain it's not a problem.

I agree that the installation seems complicated. But, if you get someone that has done it many times before he'll have gone through the learning curve and it will probably be fine.

jimnance, Why would you want your truck to shift into 4th at 2500RPm"s? I think your transmission shop put the 12v valve spring in the valve body, instead of the 24. Peak power is at 2700,shifting at 2500 isnt good, espeicailly with a big trailer. 2800-3100 is where you want the shifts to be on the 24 valve. I like 2900 on my truck,it seems to be quickest at that shift speed. I put a trans go kit in my 96 a few years back,I had a #6 TST plate, and The lockup was starting to slip(I had a lockup switch). I had zero porblems with mine,it was about a 6 hr install for me,but everything worked perfect, the shifts were nice, and solid. I didnt have to go back in ,it went perfect the first time.
