I just signed up to the forum and need some help. I have a '91 dodge cummins with a transmission cooler like the radiator up in the front of the truck that is loosing a lot of fluid. I have contacted multiple Dodge dealers and they tell me that the part is discontinued and they can not find the part any where in the country. So now I don't know what to do. Have been told to get a Tru-cool cooler but the 4590 model I don't think will fit in the truck. Then I don't know if I should have this one repaired and soldered or do I have another solution available. Please give me some insight to options. Thank you for your help in advance. Hank Garvey

Hello Hank and welcome aboard,

All those coolers are just tubes with fins so theoretically any heat exchanger that'll fit will work. Because of their construction (aluminum) they're kinda tricky to repair though. I've got a wrecking yard out here close to me that does a lot of Cummins stuff. Let me know exactly which cooler you've got and I can see if they've go one.

Hope this helps, Jones

P. S. to my reply.

Hank, If your cooler is like mine it might have screw fittings where the lines actually go into the core. If you've got them, amake sure they're tight before you get too excited about having to replace or repair.
