Thanks, TDR Staff

I picked this up Friday

mopar transmission fluid (MTF) OEM replacement?

I have a 96 Nission pathfinder automatic. Specs call for type 4 fluid. Can i use mopar type 4? Or would that be a bad idea? Thanks BAD BOB

Any type IV fluid is basically the same. I would just go to Napa and get ATF Type IV, and you will be fine. If you want to spend some more $$$, get Amsoil.

My shop manual shows Dexron III for that model. Dexron III was a General Motors spec fluid that has been replaced with Dexron VI which is backwards compatible.

An alternative to Dexron III is the Chevron MD3 product found at most auto parts stores.

It is recommended for all applications that call for the former DEXRON®-III H and MERCON® fluids and for Allison C-4 fluids.
