i have a question about the new phat shaft turbo i put in my 05 610. i have the edge juice with attitude installed. my new turbo doesn't seem to spool up as fast and as much as my stock turbo. what can i do to fix this?also i am thinking of changing my torque converter and vavle body soon. will this basically make this a bullet proof transmission?

Welcome to the TDR. :)

A larger turbo won't spool as fast, at lower RPMs, as a stocker will. More mass to get going. The only thing to reduce lag, is to add more fuel, free flowing exhaust and air filter. Basically, an engine is a big air pump. Allowing the air to move as easily as possible, reduces pumping losses (uses less fuel).

A modified valvebody and aftermarket torque convertor will help a stock transmission live longer. Won't be as bulletproof as a high performance transmission, depending on how much power you plan to add later. Keep in mind, that a tighter convertor will increase turbo lag some, depending on the RPMs.

I have more lag at lower RPMs with my turbo. It is only because the stock convertor is so loose, that it lets you rev higher before you start to move. But as I said before, it depends on how much fuel you have. Since sliding my plate ahead and adding delivery valves (only on the P-7100 fuel injections pumps on the '94-'98. 4 trucks) to my fuel injection pump, it has reduced lag considerably. :D

thanks for the welcome to tdr. i do already have a free flow exaust and a volant ram air intake. the truck is awesome. i just can't seem to get the turbo to wind up as much as i want. they say i can adjust an allen screw on the bottom of the turbo. this affects the wastegate and opens it up more. just noit sure how much to open it

How much boost is showing and on what level? Maybe someone can tell you if it is making the pressure it should.

Stack an EZ or other fueling box for low end fuel/torque/power and quicker spool. The SPS66 or other large single does need time to spool even with enough fuel. Unless you are launching at 20+psi power brake launches, it is better to roll into the throttle than just WOT. Once you see about 12psi boost then you can put the hammer down and hold on.
