Iwas told about a check valve in trans. auto, 2001 47re . by a friend . that needs to be taking out , because of a problem with it. what problem is there if any,and were is it. also those it needs to be replace. thanks
Go to the DTT web site and search on removing the transmission in line check valve.
Short story. The T/C will drain back into the pan fairly rapidly. You MUST wait about 30 seconds from engine start BEFORE you chose a gear so the T/C is full of fluid and ready.
The check valve restricts fluid flow by about 30% - 50% in the transmission cooler line. Depending on who's transmission 1995 hot line to water heat exchanger short connecting line you get it may or may not have a duplicate check valve.
You DO NOT want 2 check valves. 1 will do, and 0 will do provided you give the T/C time to fill.
