Hi guys... working on my wish-list for Christmas!!

I searched both last night and most people seem to like both of them. The Trans-Cools seem to have more surface area for heat dissipation with the built in fins, but the Fast-Coolers adds 2 qts. oil instead of the 1 qt. quoted by the Trans-Cool.

My future plans include a Trans-temp gauge (among other gauges). Both seem to have the ports for a probe already built in.

To those that have either, do you still like them? How easy were they to install? Some posts about the Fast Coolers talked about possible fitment problems and having to use different style bolts or grinding on the Fast Cooler itself to make it fit.

Thanks for helping me decide which set to put on my list.

I put on the Fast Coolers. The right side was real tight to get on as I have a full 4" turbo back exhaust. Once they were installed clearance is not an issue. I should have just loosened the exhaust at the turbo and the bracket on the bell housing and it would have been a snap.

I put them on years ago, easy bolt on project. I believe there were some fit issues with the first gen trucks and the Getrag trans that required grinding a little. As far as 4" exhaust issues, I don't know if the 3rd gens are tight. Back in the old days, Vern @Fastcooler made two sizes of coolers that were 1/2" different in length, one for the five speed and one for the six speed. He sold me one of each, I put the longer one on the driver side and the shorter on the passenger/exhaust pipe side, for a little extra clearance.

I have Fastcoolers (since 2003). I bought them because I like the clear lexan window. I don't think they offer the clear window anymore.

I also like the dipsticks on the Fastcoolers, which seem to be absent from the Trans-Cooler. The dipsticks have strong magnets on them, which is good for me because I don't have the factory transmission magnet in place anymore.

i have both and the trans-cool is best many times over, we have had to replace every clear lense on the fast coolers and the trans-cool lowers the temp better. i have 5" exhaust's on my 06's and added a shield on the pipe. this lowered the temp by about 20*, excuse the mud

Thanks everyone. I thought this would make my decision easier, but now I have lots more to think about.
Keep the ideas coming.
