I am replacing the trans in my 95 CTD and have been told to replace the coolers when I do so. My quetion is do both the cylendrical one under the turbo & the one at the core support need to be replaced or just one or the other? Even on my account at the dealer they are not cheap. Can anyone recomend any aftermarket coolers that are better and less $

When I upgraded my transmission to one by DTT. He never said anything about replacing either of the coolers. Make sure the lines are in good shape or

better yet, if they haven't been replaced already, that would be a smart thing to do.

The original lines had the quick disconnect fittings with plastic keepers and have a tendency to fail.

Unless the original transmission failed and seriously contaminated the system, What would be likely to be wrong with the coolers?

DTT did replace the hose at the engine mounted heat exchanger with a braided line. Later I had to replace hose clamps on the rubber lines between the steel lines and the cooler at the radiator.

The dealer's mechanic did a sloppy job when they installed my new steel lines.

You can get a transmission cooler and any auto parts store, but the stock one's should do you fine. If you are looking for a cheaper way to do it than getting an aftermarket one would probably do it

Just flush out your old coolers and reuse them as long as there in good shape. I would replace the lines though, fittings are poor on the 94/95's
