What are you guys finding in your trans pan when you drop it for the fluid/fliter change? I need honesty here, as I am having the dealer replace my trans due to what I believe is to much brass etc. showing up for low miles. I've changed trans fluid etc. in earlier 727's and there was always a little brass "dust" but that was about it. I get what I think is excessive brass and the magnet gets fuzzy, which seems about the same, but irredescent oil, ..... normal? What do you think?

It is normal to find some small chunks\chips of brass or aluminum in the pan. The magnet will also have a metallic paste covering it sometimes. Doesn't neccesarily means the trans is toast.

Are there any drivabilty symptoms related to it ? Does it slips or make any funny noises ?

If the trans is covered under warranty,it wouldn't hurt to have it opened up and looked at. If it's your dime, and the trans works fine, save the cash and drive it until something really starts to show up. Then you can look into a better aftermarket trans instead of a crappy dealer rebuild.

The trans works fine, just the brass that I mentioned above. The trans has been rebuilt a number of times by the dealer, and now only has about 12K on it. It also has a TransGo shift kit which boosts the line pressure to 78Lbs. at idle, so it puts the shifts in pretty firmly. Do you find the brass etc in yours when you service it?

Finding a small amount of brass in a trans pan is normal. All the thrust washers in most auto trans are made of brass.

During normal operation some brass will wear off. But if you start finding big piles or large flakes. Then you sould be concerned. This would mean abnormal wear.

Also a small amount of clutch pack/band material is also normal. The same apply's with this. A large amount or chunks mean problems.
