Just returned from a run to the East Coast and opted to have the oil changed before heading west to Memphis. Mechanic at my favorite Dodge dealer calls me out to look at transmission fluid leaking heavily from tailshaft of my 5 speed. A good 2/3 to 3/4 of the fluid gone. Must have started leaking on this trip as no indication of leak in my driveway.

My question: What do you think of the likelihood of transmission problem as a result of fluid level being so low? No indication of any problem at this point.

Paul, while it certainly didn't help anything, I'd replace the seal, add new Syntork, and drive on. If no noise or shifting problems, count myself lucky and forget about it.

Good luck, Ronnie

Additional thought, this would be a good time to add a set of Fast Coolers to increase the oil capacity.

MOPARGUY:

Thanks for the encouragement. Seal is replaced and topped off with Syntorq. Guess I should be thankful for catching it before it ran dry.
