trans fluid price

I'm getting ready to change my trans fluid and called the dealer for a price on the fluid:--) :--) :--) 5. 70 a quart, he said they take a special trans fluid is this right or is this a BS story Thanks Don

Is that for ATF+4?

I paid just under $21. /gallon for ATF+4 at the dealer. Pretty expensive transmission fluid change. By the time I found out how high the price was, I didn't really have a choice. I needed it then. ATF+4 is the recommended fluid now. When I did the change last year, I used +3. I got that for a lot less (Valvoline). I'm not sure what the difference is, though. My owner's manual says +3, but they have since changed it to +4. The dealer kind of has the corner on the market on +4 right now, I think.

I use the Amsoil universal atf, think its around $100 for 5 gallons. Thats a commercial buyers price, don't know what it retails for.
