I resently changed my trans fluid. Iwas told Dodge only recommends changing filter and fluid in the pan to maintain warranty, has anyone else had this response? What about the torque converter?

Do it because it makes sense.

I changed mine at 12k (1 year old). It was nice and pink - just like I wanted it. I didn't flush, but I got about 9. 5 quarts out by dropping the pan and changing the filter. I plan to do it yearly - whether it needs it or not. It just makes sense to me to keep it clean. By doing it yearly, I figure a flush won't really be necessary since I'm cycling new fluid through it relatively frequently. As I see it, at about $45. per change, it's cheap insurance. I also installed a temp. gauge with the sender in the cooler line.

Loosen the valve body bolts a little. You will get a LOT more fluid out. I think I read that if you let it sit overnight with the VB bolts loosened, the torque converter will partially drain as well. Make sure you retorque the VB bolts in the proper order (whatever that is :) ).

Do a search - I know I've seen this discussed before.

If you change you fliud at scheduled times then you do not need to change the fliud in the convertor. If the fluid is really burnt or a lot of clutch material in the pan then if you put fresh ATF in, then your trans will go out real quit afterwords, since ATF is a high detergent fluid. If you overheat the trans. or the engine then the fliud needs to be replaced. You can drain the pan refill and drive it for a few days and change the fluid again. Or you could flush the trans. completely. It is a good ideal to have the bands adjusted with the fliud change. I worked on trans. for 9 years, but that was almost 6 years ago due to a motor vehicule accident. Still ain't worked.

Just my penny worth.
