Trans going into gear

I thought I would let everyone know that I had a problem with the 48RE trans. I had the trans in Park, and twice the trans came out of park and put itself in Reverse!

The dealer said the problem was the "start netural switch". So far I have not had it happen again, but just to be on the safe side I have been using the emgerancy brake

If it was properly in park, it should not have come out. In order to come out it would have to move the parking pawl. Most likely it was not fully engaging the park gear.

Thats why they always recommend using the e brake.

Misadjusted linkage/cable? Whether one chooses to use the ebrake or not the transmission should never pop out of park.

trans problem

It is rather strange but in both cases I am sure I had it in park. However, the dealer told me they duplicaed the problem and that indicated that the switch was bad.
