Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) trans guage question

just call me a moron. but here is my question do i need a trans. guage for a NV4500? i havent installed them yet but i have ddII injectors and a #10 plate sitting in the garage, but i dont want to put them in until i have my guages in first. but i wasnt sure if i need the trans guage or not

Need?? Probably not, but want? Well that's up to you. I have a gauge in just about everything I can monitor. It can't hurt.

Do you do alot of heavy pulling? I've heard of some people with a 5spd behind a "chipped" PSD pulling on long steep grades and their transmission temps. were well over 250* on a hot summer day. Just a thought. Do what you want, you may not push that hard anyway.

Ok again with the ignorant questions. . if i decide to go with the trans gauge more or less for ****s and grins. . how would i go about installing it?... has anyone done it to the NV4500? TIA

If you do a lot of towing, get the Fast Coolers which do a good job of lowering the trans temp and they have a plug for the temp sensor. My experience shows that they keep the trans cooler by as much as 40 degrees depending upon the circumstances. I tow heavy almost all the time.

My wifes CTD doesn't tow and I don't have the coolers or the guage installed on hers because I don't think is necessary in a non towing situation.

Found another option, Fabcraft Metal Works in Southlake, TX. Sorry, don't have complete Phone # (It is missing the last number in the ad. ). They have a kit to replace the P. T. O. cover if you have one on the trans. Comes with a CNC machined billet aluminum cover, Autometer 100-250* gauge, sender, brackets and hardware. Don't know if it's any good, never had one.

okay ive had a new thought... what if i put the guage to the rear end?... really more or less for the ****s and grins? has anyone ever heard of this? or am i just loosing my mind>?... . cause im running out of moronic questions...

Put one gauge with a switch and a sender for each I've heard the diff runs hotter but never seen for myself. There are more than a few with diff temp gauges around here, get a Mag Hitec cover, its set up for a sender.
