48RE shift concerns

Need help/ideas. Seems to happen on left turns only. trans seems to slip. Fluid is full, do normal oil/filter servicing. Never done band adjustments on it.
has 165,000 on it. any ideas? Should I try adjusting the bands to start?

Thanks

I've had a problem with my 91.5 when turning left from a start at full throttle with heavy towed load.

Seems to shift into neutral momentarily and then grab. Nasty shock to drivetrain. Did new motor mounts, looked at everything I could think of, finally decided it was twisting the frame enough to shift from drive into neutral and then back into drive as torque came off and frame untwisted. Starting in "2'" position solved the problem which seems to confirm that there's enough twist somewhere to have shifted it into neutral for a second or two on hard starts. This may not be your problem, but try starting in "2" and see if it makes a difference.

91.5 had mechanical linkage that would allow a twist to influence things, cable shifter on a 3rd won't be effected by frame twist. Are you checking fluid in neutral on the level? Might try over filling by a quart so see if your stick is mismarked.

I have an 07 megacab 5.9 mine is doing the same thing. This is my first diesel do needless to say I'm clueless. I check my fluids everyday. I bought my truck used so I have no history on it. Can someone fill me in on what it could possibly be please. I ordered a new valve body, solenoid switch, filter, transducer accumulator spring & gaskets. I hope that fixes it. I will post updates as I get them.

Install a Valvebody Upgrade or buy an already upgraded VB, do the band adjustment.
Check that the Oilfilter is properly seated and thight, slip in corners could be sucking air when the oil sloshing to one edge of the pan.

What did you order? OEM or aftermarket, need more input.
Upgrade could be Sonnax or TransGo.
Sonnax is easier to install and reversible.

What I need to do is find someone that knows what the are doing/talking about to come take a look at both of my trucks & fix them. I am new to my area. I don't know anyone

Well if you tell us where you are then I'm sure someone can tell you a trustworthy shop to install the parts.

With a new OEM valvebody I'd go with the sonnax kit.

And for the next time, open a new thread instead of hooking onto an old one.
