I have a 97 2500 with a 5sp. and I was doing an oil change before it gets cold again and noticed that my trans mount is broke. More specifically the piece of steal between the transmission and the rubber issolator on the crossover. I use this as a daily driver, mostly e-way for the time being, I only have 146k miles on it. Has anyone else had this before or have an idea what may have caused it?

Welcome to the TDR! :)

Never had that happen on the Ram, but it did on my Ford. Found it when replacing the transmission at 120k. In my case, the rubber piece failed.

Yes I broke mine on a hard practice launch before one of our drag events,I added gussetts and haven't been able to hurt it again yet. 2 years and counting,I have been able to break a motor mount since so it is not like I am not trying :D

do I buy the whoule mount or just that stamped metal. I don't have any great mods and havn't done any hauling (heavy) lately so I think it has been this way for a while.

I just welded mine up and added strength along the way. In my case I would have broken a new one too. The pieces are available separately

Last summer..... we were crawling under trucks... . did a couple trannys... . etc... and if I remember right... . 4 out of 5 were broken. What I noticed... . When towing... fast (caddy on flatbed doing 85mph) I would get a shake that would almost rival the death wobble. Back out of it... and it was gone. I figured the driveshaft started whipping, and being the trans wasn't "bolted in" it would start to shake the whole works.
