I would like a Mag HyTec double deep trans oil pan, but for now, I have to watch my pennies as end of the week I am ordering a new torque converter, valve body and update kit fotr my truck. Plus the little woman is watching! My question is, I see that B&M has a deep pan that holds an extra 4 qts and it lists for 162 bucks. It says it will fit the TAF-727 and 518. Are these the same trannys as my Dodge?? I know nothing about the Dodge transmission's altho I hope I learn more thanks to this thread. . Thanks for any info!!

Thanks!!

Thanks guys!!

I always appreciate the help and free info there is on this site. I look forward to powering up my CTD without making too many expensive (unnessary) mistakes. Starting with gauges then next week will be ordering trans stuff! Then its on the power!!

Does the B&M pan have fins on the inside? I was under the impression (according to an authorized DTT instaler/rebuilder) that the mag DD pan is 17 pounds and provides additional strength to the transmission case especially if you are upgrading to DTT equipment and planning on adding an Edge product... . You may need that extra strength if you are going to increase your torque.

Just my $. 02 worth... . Correct me if I am wrong.

I don't know...

I know from looking at the pictures it is finned on the outside. And I do know that it is a heavy pan, it is not just stamped out tin. As far as needing a MAgHytec pan for rigidity of the case, I would think the B&M would work fine. My guess is that a lot of people have used DTT stuff with the stock pan, at least I haven't seen anything on the TDR about not using the stock pan. But, REMEMBER, I am a new guy when it comes to the CTD and am always learning, so please don't quote me!! I hope someone with actual knowledge will chime in here as well, I am ordering DTT stuff the end of this week or Monday, so the information would be appreciated!! It seems like its always something!!! But thats the fun of it, I guess, figuring it all out!

Now you can put more money into your DTT setup... ..... By the way who is going to do the work for you? Are you tackling the job yourself?

Jason

A couple more thoughts,DTT ships its trannies out with mag-hytek pans and there are a lot of single deep used pans available because of the many people that up graded to the double deeps.

B&M

Great thread! I'll also check into the B&M as an add on. Does anyone know if it has a threaded port for the sending unit a trans. temp gauge?

If not, has anyone installed / welded / tapped a port for the sender?

I'm having it done by Butch Stone who works at Avenger Superchargers in Colorado Springs. He's been doing Dodge trannys for 30 years and is a master transmission guy. I am driving 600 miles to have him do it. . He's that good...

You'd be better of buying the 95 model cooler line with the sender port built into it. You want the sender in the hot cooler line (ATF at it's hottest) you get a more accurate reading that way.

I agree...

But instead of ordering the line, I got a kit from Janetty racing that splices into the cooler line. Cost 29 bucks and it is a very nice setup... Its whatever floats your boat, I guess...

I went with everyones advice and bought a replacement line from trans to first cooler with the probe fitting in it for a 95 truck, about 100$. Perfect fit, no leaks, and my temp readings seem to be very responsive. Don't forget to remove check valve from new line. Good luck
