My front driveshaft broke the other day. When it did, it also broke the neutral safety switch and the rear cooler line. I replaced the neutral switch & line, but the trans won't shift from 2nd - 3rd. I replaced the speed sensor and it still does it. I'm getting the following codes:

P1693 (M) DTC Detected in Companion Module A fault has been generated in the companion engine control module.

P1698 No CCD/J1850 Message From TCM No CCD/J1850 messages received from the electronic transmission control module (EATX) or the Aisin transmission controller.

The P1698 DTC can be triggered if you disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the PCM. Clear the trouble codes and see if (and what) returns.

If the P1698 comes back, it could mean there's a broken wire in the harness leading to PCM. Check the connectors at the PCM, check for obvious broken wires, and check for disconnected ground wires.

Good luck,

John L.

Also, I don't know if it matters, but I left the key on the night I towed it home and the batteries were toatally dead.
