hello

when my trans shifts from 1st to 2nd right as it shifts it kinds of holds the shift for a second causing a slight rise in rpm then shifts to second. it does it with light throttle and i dont think it happens all the time trans is stock (have upgrades in garage) but what could this be(electrical/mechanical)??

TIA

Could be a slightly loose band adjustment. Loose bands don't hurt anything except you get an rpm rise between shifts as the band disengages before the internal clutches lock up causing the rpm rise. Much better than bands that are too tight which have no symptom but cause excess wear.

I know around here a transmission fluid/filter change and band adjustment only runs about $75. I get mine done every year. I'd get yours done too, b/c the extra bit of RPM before the band engages will accelerate wear on an already worn band.
