Symptom: When i'm in OD with the converter locked, running at about 1500rpm, I can stab the throttle (pretty moderately/ WOT) and once I hit around 18psi OD appears to slip briefly. It will jump about 50-75rpm disproportionately to the mph. At around 1800 rpm, maybe sooner, the slip stops and the truck will pull accordingly.



I haven't run second in lockup to see if it slips. I can't remember what components of the 2nd gear structure are used for OD.



3rd gear will not slip, no way, no how. I'm using this as my basis to eliminate the TCC as the problem. 3rd will run up to over 100mph with no problem.



I adjusted the bands two weeks ago at the early onset of a gov pressure sensor and solenoid failure. I replaced these two and all was good, but while checking out the new parts installation, I noticed this new problem.



I'm waiting on my trans guy to make it back from vacation, but I like to do my homework as well. The more I know about what's going on, the more I can help him fix it ( if not myself).



what components would allow 4th to slip, and can pressures be adjusted to compensate? (not that they should have to be)



I asked some questions on comp D but they would rather whine about my DTT than to provide useful info.



Based on my drag time I was around 300hp before modding my afc and slidng the plate full on. Should be upper 300s by now.

What valve body are you running? Your OD clutch shouldn't slip. It almost sounds like the torque converter is unlocking & locking. Are you sure your throttle position sensor isn't playing games?

Both of my trucks put out lots of torque. The '97 has a Suncoast TC & VB, and the '96 has a Goerend TC & VB. Neither lets anything slip; although a TPS can make it do what you are experiencing.

If you have a stock TC, it will not lock & not slip with much more than 250 HP.

On my '96, I've got a variable rheostat I can switch in instead of the TPS, this lets me fool the computer into thinking I've got light/medium throttle all the time. The neat part is that it then keeps the TC locked when slowing down, until I get to the regular unlock MPH.
 
It's a full DTT, billet goodies and all. I, too, have a pot and it was set at 1. 8V signal out. It's off a little now. I need to set it and lock it down. I just don't think it's the TCC. When i'm doing this it's locked up via a switch. I actually noticed it coming off a cloverleaf exit ramp when a guy was under my rear end. I was trying to smoke him out and when it boosted it revved. Since that time i've recreated it 5 times. No more.



Like I said, it will handle everything I can throw at it in 3rd gear lockup. 4th is doing this. I think it can be corrected but I don't know how. I'm going to move my pot into the dash. It's next to my 4wd lever right now in a breakout box with a knob. I can't imagine that's it though.
