I was wandering what some of you recommend to do about an torque converter unlock switch and upgrading my valve body. I would like to beef up my trans a bit. I just want it to be able to handle a Edge Ez and 275 injectors. Any thoughts?

Stay away from a lockup switch! Do it right and get a good TC, VB, and transmission that will hold the power for time to come. It is always cheaper to do it right the first time than fix it later.

YEP, you WILL fry your OD clutches and/or TC. I did it with the exact setup you quoted. The 275's alone were OK but cooked the 47RE after adding the box. I got an ATS stage IV setup, added more injector (DDII's), doing great. . Better save up about 4K. DTT is supposed to have a good setup also, BTW.

You will not be sorry if you get the complete transmission fixed. Yes it is expensive but it is worth it to know everything about the transmission is done right.

I chose ATS because of their superior engineering. I am a machinist by trade and I was given a tour of the ATS shop. I know the ATS TriplLok converter and transmission is manufactured to top-notch standards. I would not hesitate to recommend ATS to anyone. Clint knows his stuff and makes a great product. There are some other fine companies out there to choose from give them all a look. The companies listed below actually make their own torque converters to go with the transmissions they rebuild. They have the expertise to do the whole job not just part of it.

transmission

Yes you need to upgrade your transmission. The stock transmission can just barely hold what power you have stock. Like the rest of the guys mentioned there a lot of different transmission companies out there. First off do some research and find the best possible transmission and warranty you can find. All of the transmission companies make good trannies. You choose whats best for your application. Check these sites out. do what you think is best.

Trans upgrade

I did the same upgrades as you with the edge ez first. I ran that for about 7000 miles then added the 275s and 1 week later the tc started slipping. Worst was at lower rpms where line presures were to low. These are great upgrades that yield real seat of the pnts results but the trans setup from the factory will not hold it. Remember the HO engine was not available with an auto with only ten more hp, does that tell you anything about our factory setup? Good luck and have fun. DW

Triple Ditto's on the ATS TripleLok!

I got my ATS Stage IV Trans last year and I LOVE IT! It is the best thing I've even done to my truck. I agree Edward, Clint knows his stuff and can explain it well. I've put about 24,000 miles on my truck since my rebuild and it shifts great. Firm and quick.
