Missing Oil Plug Washer

fuel guage out of sync

I can't find the forum where some one installed a new trans temp guage and put a resister in the wires that went to the one guage. I would like to know if it is still working and what resistance/resistor was used?

Thanks in advance,

Mac

I thought about doing that when I put my trans temp gauge in but I don't think it'd work well with our winters. If a resister was put in then it'd lock up the same @ -10 as it would @ 90. Mother Chrystler made it shift in at a certain temp for a reason, that's why I put another sender in the line on mine. This is just my $. 02 though.
If you really want to only have one sending unit though... The way you could figure out what size resistor to put in would be to check the current of the open temp sender @ running temp then put the plug on the sender and check the voltage. With these 2 #'s you put the voltage over the current to get the resistance needed and insert the closest normal value resistor into the plug where the sending unit would've gone.

I cleared 100K mi while the board was down. Jardine Performance 4" exhaust (sounds just like a Pete, it's great) :) Schied Diesel put timing to *15 (by timing light), put gauges in on the A pillar (trans temp, boost, and egt) They also set my stock plate up (40 hp 150 ft/lb gain) OH, what a difference a day makes :-D

Thanks Kunze, Ill probably still try the resistor cause I think my old sensor is toast.
If any one knows what the resistance should be I can test my sensor?

Thanks again
Mac

Mac,my '95 service manual says 1340 ohms with transmission warm. There is also a chart that has resistances at different AT temps,35,990@ 32°F;1340@80°;410@120°. It seems to me by looking at these values that a resister of 1340-410 ohms will work, make it a 1k and it's easily available. If you are concerned about shifting into high gear when the engine is cold you can just push the OD off switch for the first couple of miles.
