Ok here is what is going on. Just ran a 26ft travel trailer from Indiana to Montana. I was going into a pretty good head wind. Now on the way back with no trailer I get what is like a slip when the converter is locking up. Its not like a complete free spin and rev up its more like a chatter. Trans has 60k on it and has about 35k on fluid. I was going to change it this weekend. Fluid doew not really smell burned, it is a little bit on the brown instead of red side. If I am running 50mph and hit the throttle hard, but not hard enough to down shift or anything, I get what feels like chatter (almost like in a stick) and a slight rev up on the tach. Any help would be great. Karl

Just read on DTT that he sees about 80% of the shudders are ATF realated. So in the am I am going to change the fluid. How do I get all of it out (converter fluid)?? Need the truck so the wait game for it to drainback is not an option. Karl

I was advised by Bill Kondolay a while back to just loosen the Valve Body bolts and it will drain most of the fuild in the torque converter. Just retorque them again when you are finished, put the cover back on and fill her up. You can get most all of the fluid out that way. I have been doing just that for the last several changes and everything works great.

Good Luck,

Scott
