Trans sluggish in 1st after "tune up"

I had a truck come in my shop that I have been working on for the last couple hundred thousand miles. It had a stutter on the one – two shift and it had nearly 100,000 miles on the last service. I had one of my guys replace the governor pressure sensor and solenoid, install a new sump filter adjusted the bands. We filled it back up with ATF +4 did a few unrelated repairs and he came and picked it up. He called me back the next day saying that it seemed like it took a lot more throttle input to get going in first but the 1-2 stutter shift was fixed. Today he called me and said that he had a empty trailer behind the truck approximately 3500 pounds and on an incline it barely did want to get rolling. He said that he pulled the transmission down in manual low but it didn't make any difference. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have to ask, did he check the fluid level while in neutral? It sounds like its low on fluid.

My guess is there is a problem with the transducer or solenoid and it is starting in 2nd gear, if it is full of fluid.

Cerb you are probably right,unless of course the t/c just went belly up

I suppose the 1-2 stutter would be cured if it was starting out in second anyway......

What year is the truck? I also think it might be starting in 2nd. My '97 would do that and I'd have to clock the TPS.

I suppose it's possible that the intermediate band was adjusted too tight.

He brought it by and I drove it. I'm pretty sure it's starting in 2nd with a upshoft to 4th. I will troubleshoot the new transducer and solenoid when I get back in town.

Yep, sounds like the solenoid is stuck or the transdcuer is not passing info correctly.
