Anyone run this in their transmission? It is what they recommend in the big allision trannys to get the extended warranty. The only full synthetic Oil my dealer says that is warranty friendly is Amsoil The problem I have is it's marketed to much like Amway and that scares me a little. I know the local transit garage was running Amsoil in the Buses for a while then had some problems with the filters plugging up,could have been a fluke but when they stoped using it they had no more problems.

You are running a DTT transmission already and normally Bill K. recommends Dexron III and not ATF+4. This being the case there are several options for transmission fluid, Mobil 1 makes a good dexron III that I have run. There is also Amsoil and Royal Purple that are mentioned above. I am sure there are others these are just a few that come to mind. I would check with DTT and verify what they recommend for their transmission.

I ran amsoil in my stock transmission for 120k with no problems at all. After I got my trans done by Bill K they did, as Jetpilot noted, use Dex. When I had my service done I refilled it with amsoil again. Bill told me the amsoil would be fine and he had no problem using it. Said he prefered the dex only because it slipped a bit less. I could feel the difference in my trans from switching from dex to the amsoil. The shift was not quite as harsh or maybe a better way to say it would be as crisp.

The harder the shift the better for me at least,Bill wanted me to go to the synthetic for another reason. The dealer was very specific as to not run dextron 3 for whatever reason so I figure I better keep them happy seeing as it is a brand new truck ,and they seem to treat me fairly well.

The warranty on your transmission is now from DTT not Dodge so I would listen to Bill. Please don't take this wrong but most Dodge dealers aren't very good in the maintenance area. DTT built and designed at lot of the components inside your transmission so I would go with what they say... ...

I purchased the internals and the dealer did the change over,so the ball is in thier court. D. T. T. is the one who wants me to try synthetic. The guy at the dealer took his time and did a real goog job. (He had for more than 3 days)dealer didn't charge me for his patience either. The transmission works exellent ,they are working on customizing my shifts as the 2005 is electronic kick down and I had the first one done. Once we get that figured should be awesome.

Transynd was specifically designed / engineered by Castrol for the large Allison automatic transmissions found in the Class 5 and larger trucks. I use it in my FL-60 Allison and it works extremely well. That said, it is such a specifically engineered fluid that it might not work very well in other transmissions unless they are almost identical in operational and material characteristics to an Allison.

Most of the ATF's are now made from an ultra pure base stock that is very near synthetic in physical and performance characteristics. The standard rule with all lubricants still applies . . . . keep it cool, clean, and dry and it will protect the equipment it is operating in.
