Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Trans TC lockup

My trans is not locking in 3rd gear unless I take it out of OD.



I will be driving along and hit a mild hill and it will downshift to 3rd and never lock even if I let off accelerator. Under this condition if I take it out of OD it will then lockup.



Any ideas?

On a 1999 model if you don't take it out of OD manually by pressing the button on the shifter knob the transmission will not lockup in third gear. What you are describeing is normal.
