Hello I am a first time poster. I have enjoyed reading all the posts and reply's

I have a 1997 ctd. and the trans temp probe is in the trans pan.

I know thats not the right place put what should i be reading there?

I run empty most all the time in utah, going to cal. and l. v. in may and was wondering what temp I will see.

Thanks too everyone for making this the best web site I have ever seen or used

Hi and welcome to TDR land!

When mine was in the pan I'd see 140-160 empty on the highway.

I was in West Yellowstone last week and rented an RMK 700 w/136" track and did a little back country riding. FUN STUFF!

at first i to had the sending unit in the pan the only time it came off 100 degrees was after a good run &then stop&go traffic 120 degrees. i bought 95 hot line from dealer 80$ & 1/4 to 1/8 bushing busted out check valve and swaped them out be prepaired to replace about a quart oil. seeing 100-180 range now empty.

I just finished installing my gauges yesterday.

The sensor is installed in the pan, which is a pan that Bill K. gave me when I had the transmission & TC reworked. What temprature would be considered dangerous with the sensor in this location?
