Good day, I have a 97 2500 12v Cummins with an automatic trans.

I installed a Westach temp gauge with a sensor in the pan. The problem: I noticed when I turned on the ignition switch the needle went to 150 deg. The ambient temp was 78 deg. I went for a 5 mile ride and the needle was pointing at about 175 deg which should be just about right. I checked the temp with an infrared thermometer at the pan where the sensor is at and the temp was about 120 deg and I also checked the oil on the dipstick and it to was about 120 deg. Is there away to adjust the gauge to read the correct temp?

Thanks, RH

Where did you get the gauge? I'd send it back if you can, no adjustment should be required. 120-125 is totally normal for cruising in lockup.
