Do the new 03/04 trucks have a trans. temp. gauge, when they come from the factory? Hate to say it, but I was looking at the GMC 2500's at a RV Show and they had the trans. temp. gauge as standard equip. No Dodges at the Atlanta RV show last week.

I bought an "Autometer" manifold to install my transmission temp probe in the hot line to the cooler. It's a big ol' chunk of metal with compression fittings on each end and a hefty 1/2" NPT hole for the 1/8"NPT sensor. Anyone used one of these things? Right now temporarily, I have the sensor taped to the hot line about 5" out of the transmission. I used 600*F silicon tape with some tie raps for extra security. It works surprisingly well with temps comparable to what I've read here with sensors properly installed, but I'd rather it be properly installed.

The trans. shop I used installed something like you installed. The gauge they used was a Cybertech (or something like that) digital gauge set to start flashing at 260 degrees. This is on a 2000 Ram 1500 with a 5. 9 gasser. Working on getting the Cummins next, wife wanted the 5th wheel trailer this year.

i think cyberdyne is the gauge company... i just did a quick web search and could not find their home page, but i think jcwhitney sells them... [my 'net access is dead slow today]

They did? What does the sending unit look like? Mine is the standard 1/8" NPT sensor taped longways to the hot line.

Or are you referring to the manifold type sensor receptacle?

My sensor is similar or the same as your discribing. It's listed on my ticket as a sender at $49. 95 -it's looks like its made out of copper and is fitted in the hot line coming from the trans. Seems to work fine.
