OK I just installed my new EGT gauge and Boost gauge. Now I am trying to install my trans Temp gauge but can't figure out the best way to mount sending unit. Looking for the best way to put in the pan. Any ideas on how to make a fitting for the 1/8 npt thread to attach to the pan?

96,auto trans. EGT,Boost.

If you really want to put it in the pan Geno's sells a hollow bolt with internal 1/8'' pipe thread. All you do is drill a hole in the pan insert the bolt and tighten it's nut.

Don't remember if '96 has a RH or RE transmission, if it has an RH you can put the probe in the middle test port passenger side for the same reading as the best place to put your probe, in the outlet line to the cooler.

An easy way to install it in the line out is to get a line for a '94-'95 that goes from the trans up to the block mounted cooler. The '94-'95 trucks had their temp sender in the line so the line has a 1/8" pipe fitting already.

I had the sender installed in the pan, it measure temp of cooled trans oil in that location, not much use.

mount in the hot line...

I had mine mounted in the line going from the transmission to the cooler. It is much more accurate as it is the fluid that has just come out and gives you accurate-to-the-second readings. What you can do is cut out a small section of the line, insert a T-fitting with a 1/8-NPT port and tighten it down.

Buy a tee kit here for $29. 78 http://www.jannettyracing.com/dodge.htm it's called a

TRANSMISSION TEMP MANIFOLD JRE-DGTM1000

in the section with gauges

Many folks prefer to go with a '94-'95 line with port because they feel the tee is just another possible leak source. I see no problem with it if installed correctly.

Don't put your temp probe in the pan. The pan temp is of no use in telling how your trans is doing. You need the oil temp leaving the trans to tell how hard the trans is working.
