How did you guys that are running trans temp guages plumb them into the line?? On my race car I used an Manifold plumbed into a trans line. I dont want to take the pan off and weld in a bung. Any suggestions?

I replaced my hot cooler line with one for a '95 Ram - it has a port in it for the sender. I had to remove the drainback valve in the line before I put it on, but it's a snap. This is widely accepted as the best place to get the temp reading.

Cooler Line with Sensor Fitting is around $80. 00. You might try MOpar4Less. The part number is 5011244AA. Let them give you a quote. When you call them, be sure you let them know your placing an internet order, otherwise you might get the standard list price. They are a Dodge dealer after all.

There is a problem with just replacing the cooler line because you will end up with two drain back check valves. DTT has the connection hose without the check valve, so you end up with only one drain back check valve like you should. The DTT hose is built like a tank, SS braided hose compared to the standard high pressure hose Dodge uses. If you want to see the difference, follow the link.

Another way which may be cheaper is to cut to hot oil line near the transmission, and install a T with compression fittings on two sides and a fitting on the third side to fit whatever kind of sending unit you need. Total parts cost is less than $10. 00

The hot oil line is the one coming out of the front of the trans going to the water to oil heat exchanger. I found the compression fittings to weep and to get rid of the check valve take the one that is in the truck out and replace it with a stock fitting.

you can save a couple bucks by just removing the check ball from the stock fitting in the heat exchanger .

heres a couple tips , mopar puts alot of paint on the fittings making it a bit tough to get a correct size wrench on . scrap off some paint at both ends , also blow aitr thru the tube in both directiuons to make sure the check ball is working properly , a stck ball will overheat the trans .

also pay attention to the end at the heat exchanger , get a bit overzealous on tightening that end can twist the rubber hose blocking flow .
