Fuel or some other problem...

I had been doing a Parade with my 03' 48RE equiped truck. We had been running really slow, which most of you know these trucks don't do 5 mph or less very good. I did notice that the water temp was up slighty, I did not however pay much attention to the Trans Temp gauge (BD Pillar Mount). As we were going home the trucks RPM dropped and then jumped back to normal (70 mph), the Trans Temp light also flashed for a second. I check the BD gauge to see how high the temp had gone up and it indicated 185 degs. max. (I have the warning set at 200 degs. ) This is as high as I have ever seen the temp ever go since I have had the truck. What I thought was interesting was I had something similar happen a few weeks earlier, but at that time I did not check the to trans temp. That time I thought it was something else, maybe fuel or FCA causing the problem. But after yesterday now I am wondering if it isn't the trans having a problem. Trans was serviced just 3K ago and at that time everything looked pretty good. Anyone have some ideas as to what might be going on? Thanks!

Now you have a reason to justify (to your wife?) some Dynatracs so you can go 4 lo in the parade! Have you been day dreaming about a Goerend and your truck is reading your mind? (LOL!!) Mark

That would be great if I had 4x4, if I am understanding you correctly, but I don't. :)

Sorry 'bout that, Cerf! I didn't read your sig. I guess I was just taking for granted that everything "up nawth" had 4 wheel drive. I notice, though, that you didn't deny that a Goerend transmission had crossed your mind? And it is only 300 miles over to St Lucas! Mark

Thats okay Mark31. . I am in Arizona for the winter. And actually I was thinking of a different company if I need anything done. There is a young man who owns a transmission shop here that is a whiz. I am going to take it over to him within the next couple of days to see if knows what the problem is. He uses the Roadrunner Converters made here in Arizona. . But I am hoping I don't have to go into the transmission! I am not even sure that the transmission is the whole problem. I was hoping someone else might have some idea what is going on.

Okay, I got a couple of answers to my problem. It appears that it could actually be an electrical problem; throttle positioner, speed sensor, of which I guess there is more then one. I had someone run code check, but nothing showed up. It seems that if the RPM dropped and it was the transmission so would have the speed, which did not happen. So I am back to square one. I find it interesting that no one has had a similar problem??

Did you check for codes yourself? If your not sure how just turn the key on-off-on-off-on within 5 seconds and wait for the code to show up in the odometer.

Thanks, actually I had forgotten that I could do that. I did get a code; P0633which I knew was there already; SKIM key not programmed in PCM. When I said nothing showed up, I ment other then the P0633. I drove truck today and had no problems. I am sure that it is something that is intermittent, but in the mean time it will drive me crazy!
