Does anyone have any info about the aluminum device that clamps over the trans line between the cooler and transmission that houses the sending unit for the trans temp guage, that Ginos Garage sells. I would prefer not to drill into the trans pan if this simple device works as advertised. Thanks Guys any advise will do. First diesel and lovin it.

I think you would get a much more accurate reading from a sender that is located in the pan or T'd into a cooler line. but I am interested to see if anyone is using this clamping method.

Welcome to the TRD MAndring, post your truck info on your sig. when you get time.

Before Geno's began selling that device, I fashioned one similar from a brass fitting. The latest TDR Issue 55, Page 18 has my summary of that installation. I'm confident that accuracy and responsiveness is very good and should be at least as good with one made of aluminum.

I installed the trans. temp. gauge with the "device" you described. It was easy to do and seems to be working fine. I tested the temperature of the transmission line with a temperature sensor and it was very close to what the gauges registered. Good luck!
