In line if you really want to know what your transmission is doing...
in the pan if you want to know how well your coolers are working (like that's important when your t/c is about to grenade itself).
For your ride, buy a replacement line from Dodge or DTT or any other aftermarket trans company should have them. Got mine from Fred @ Desert Diesel when I had him build my transmission. Something like $85-$90... cheap insurance.
Needs to be in the hot line coming out of transmission. That is where it will see the hottest oil. The pan will be much cooler.
If your line is the same as my original stock one, you will need to get one for a '95 truck. That is what I did. Or I think that someone got kit to put one on their factory line using some commpression ftiings.
