I am wondering if anybody has hooked up a transmission temp and how hot is the transmission running on the 2004 Dodge Ram. I pull 12000 lbs and wondering if I should buy a Mag Hytec transmission pan.

Mine got up to about 210 yesterday pulling 9K around town under 40 MPH. Once I got on the highway it went down to 165 in about 10 minutes. That is the highest I have had it.

Fluid Temps

It never ever hurts to run as much auto transmission fluid capacity as you can, I would without a doubt run a double deep Mag-Hytech trans pan. Top quality product that works out really well. The cooler you can keep the trans fluid the better for your trans. 180 deg F is ideal for ATF.

Mine stays at 180deg with engine at idle and in drive.

If I put it in N or Park it will drop to around 150 or 160
