What Is The Average Tempature Of A Warm Transmission Driving Down The Road @ 60mph... Trans Temp Gauge Said 150 Degrees???

Trans Temp

I just installed a trans temp gauge. While driving today on the freeway at about 70 mph in 99 degree weather I was reading at most 160 and off freeway at lesser speeds was reading 140 to 150. Not towing a trailer and no weight in bed.

When I put my temp gauge on I noticed that when the TC was locked and cruising at highway speeds the temperature was normally about 160. When running around town with very little air flow through the radiator and TC not locked I was easily getting temperatures up to 210. It seems that just idling with the transmission in drive will get the temperature up to what the engine is normally running, 190. All of this was empty. When I start towing I'm going to make sure I've got an additional cooler installed to keep the temperatures down.

driving 65-80... 130-160 degrees. . running in town I can run from 180 to 210 depneding on the stop and goes. this is Florida 90-100 degree weather.

I have read that anywhere between 50 and 90 degrees above ambient (outside) temperature is considered normal. Towing a big load uphill or an unlocked TC will cause additional heat.
