After pulling my tt for about 1500 miles, now driving without the trailer,at about 30mph, the truck wants to buck (like its in and out of lockup. At maybe 50 or 55 it seems like it wants to do the same thing while in OD. Any ideas ?

It that something that can just be reset by disconnecting the batt for a while and then reconnecting them to reset back to default /

Thanks

Thanks BoeingDiesel. On the road right now, but Im going to see my local guy maybe next week. I talked to him this morning and he said something about putting a filter on the battery. A fix that he has used quite often in the past.

I believe Geno's has an alternator rebuild kit (No sure if it's from Larry B's, same guy with starter rebuild kit?) I've read here that rebuilding your original alternator is better than buying an aftermarket new or rebuilt. As for the erratic OD in out, a noise filter (such as available from DTT) is about $80 and you can install your self. Both alternator and noise filter come with pretty easy to follow instructions. Just my $0.02.

Buddy of mine had the symptom, turned out to be a loose ground. He didn't believe the tech until he got tired of it and found it.

Could also be an early APPS failure but they generally go at any rpm and will eventually kick out a CEL (but sometimes takes a while).

If you have a volt meter handy put it on AC and measure the voltage. Should be less than .1 volts AC. Anything more is a good indication of a bad diode(s) in the altenator which affects the TC lock up circuit.
