I had heard about a kit someone was selling for a transfer case shifter cable (kit) for the 4 wheel drive to replace the vacuum line that apparently is in charge of shifting in and out of 4 wheel drive. Mine takes miles (most times ) now to shift out of 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive, and I'm thinking the vacuum line is starting to go. I tried to do a search forum on it, and all I get is transmission linkage.

Anybody remember where to get that kit??

confusion

I'm afraid I am still confused about the 2 sites provided. The 4 whl lock is almost $100 over the EJAY ENGINEERING site solution. Is the almost $100 over (4 whl loc) a superior product to the EJAY engineering, or simply just cheaper???? After looking at both the sites, I am not certain either is the solution to the bad vacuum line transfer linkage problem I am starting to experiencing. Excuse my ignorance, I cannot decipher if either vendor has the appropriate linkage for my problem. I did e-mail both of them however, asking for a clarification of their product.

You said "transfer case" in your first post but since the transfer case is shifted by the lever and the front axle is shifted with vacuum I assume you were talking about the "center axle disconnect" on the front axle.

It appears to me that the Emjay kit still uses vacuum to shift the axle but using switches and valves allows you to choose not to engage the center axle disconnect in 4low thus having 2wd lo range.

The posi lock system replaces the entire vacuum system with a manually controlled cable in the cab, to engage 4wheel drive first pull the t-case lever then pull the posi lock control to shift the center axle disconnect.

It appears to me they are different solutions to different problems.

jrobinson2, You are correct. They both provide a "2 wheel low" capability but only the posi lock eliminates the need to use vacuum to engage / disengage the front axle. I had to have the entire 4x4 vacuum harness replaced on my previous ram ('00, V8, gas) because the vacuum harness had come loose and fell onto the exhaust manifold and melted. Of course I found this out while attempting to pull my boat out of the water at a steep ramp  . The parts and labor were about $150 to get this repaired.
