Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Transfer case cover cracked!

my buddy and i were out late last night tearing apart my pickup for a clutch install (sbc of course) and we noticed a small crack in the back cover of the transfer case just below the output shaft has any one had this problem and can i just replace the cover since i bought my clutch i am a little strapped for cash any thoughts are welcome thanks in advance

I had mine let loose on me while towing 11000lbs from CA to NC when i got out of the Marine Corps. It started out as a very small leak I thought it was just the output seal so evey time i stoped for fuel I would fill it up. But it finally let looses in NM Had to recase the whole thing. You might want to check the rest of the transfer case for cracks so the whole thing doesent let loose. so far ive put about 20,000 miles on mine since it was recased and so far so good.
