Transfer Case Differences

Does anybody know the difference between a transfer case from a stick vs one from an automatic? I would've guessed they were the same, but a couple places I looked has a different listing for each.

I believe they are the 271 and 273, they do not look any different of paper from NV http://www.newventuregear.com/tcases.html

I thought the 71 was manual shift and the 73 is electro-shifto-matic.

Input shafts are different size and spline count for auto vs. man

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. There was one from an automatic 03 truck on eBay.
