The 10mm fill plug on my 241 transfer case is stripped. Any ideas on the best way to remove it? I don't have a welder but I have air tools. Sitting in the garage and I did a bonehead move by taking out the drain plug first. Idiot. Any ideas would be appreciated.

They make easy-outs that big... that's how I eventually got mine out... look for one in the plumbing section of the hardware store... to remove pipe...

And I neversiezed mine, it seemed to help...

Success...

Thanks steved. I got it out using a dremel tool to cut notches in the edges, torch to heat and hammer the little bugger out. I trashed the plug but I just so happen to have a old plug from my jeep cherokee that is a nut on the outside instead of those lousy allen type plugs. I'm rolling now.

A lot of guys don't realize those plugs are a metric allen and that a 3/8" allen is just a touch too small... that's what happened to me...

Glad to hear your back up and running...

lesson learned...

A prior servicing I had on the transfer case munged up the fitting for the 10mm hole in the plug. Using a 10mm adapter with my rachet just didn't fit into the hole solidly and before you know it... well expletive deleted. I'm glad I had TDR available to search and post to give me info to solve the problem. This web site has saved me more money than any single item I've ever spent. I only wish there was this kind of web site for my computer... or my girlfriend. Just kinding honey...
