I'm in the process of changing my transmission and transfer case fluid, but I'm not sure where the fill hole is on the transfer case. There is a few inches above the drain plug, but when I cracked it open fluid came out. I'm assuming that's not the fill plug. Does anyone know where the fill plug is and how much fluid I should expect it to take by just draining it through the drain plug?

Wes,

On my 2001 the fill hole is directly above the drain hole aprox 4 inches up, on the rear of the tranfer case.

They are both 1/2inch (I think) square recess plug.

When I change mine alittle fluid does come out of the fill hole. If it is hot when u change it, the fluid will be "expanded" and more may come out due to that.

I can remember exactly how much mine takes when I change it out but it is somewhere between 3 and 4 quarts if I remember right.

Hope this helps
