What a worthless owners manual! There is no listing for axle lube capacities, or for the t-case. I ran a search and found the axle capacities but nothing on the t-case. Does anybody know how much it holds, and what type of fluid it is? I am assuming ATF but need to be sure.

Mine took about 2 and 3/4 quart, I used ATF. The fluid that came out was kinda red, so I think we use ATF.

I was told somewhere that it was the same fluid that is in the auto transmission, capacity unknown but i think 2 or 3 quarts, call dodge maybe or a jiffy lube?

transfer case capacity

according to tech manual, 1. 6 - 1. 89 Liters (3. 4 - 4. 0 pints) of ATF +4 depending on model of transfer case! thought there was only 2, (manual and electronic) but according to tech man, there are 4 differant models (NV241 or NV243; as well as NV 271 and NV273).

The 24X are the manuels and the 27X are the electronic????

Any way, I spent $120 for this thing and I guess I've got my money out of it answering this question!Oo.

The 271 and 273 are the heavy duty models. The others are in 1500 series trucks. The 271 is the manual shift, 273 is electric shift. Remember, the service manuals cover all trucks 1500-3500!

The 271 and 273 both take a full 4 pints of ATF +4.
