My truck worked harder there than towing my trailer on the hiway. This in my case proven with gauges and fluid discoloration

How does that even compare? What gauges? What was being measured? What was the time factor? What was the distance? There is about 1/3 enough info there to even begin a discussion.

How do you quantify "worked harder" comparing an 8k truck running a couple hundred miles to a tow rig at +20k for thousands of miles? This is knowing full well that a race rig is getting a fluid change for the next event, whereas a tow rig is on schedule to maximize the maintenance intervals. I can run ATF in a diff, as light as grease and oil as possible in all lube points to chase thousandths of a second when it only runs 10 miles every other weekend and it is all getting changed and\or rebuilt before the next event. Not doing the same thing in my tow vehicle, nor would anyone else with a modicum of knowledge.

Racing is racing, towing is towing; there ARE many differences. "I race my truck and use ATF" and "This in my case proven with gauges and fluid discoloration" is meaningless without context.

Apparently you are unfamiliar with the Baja 1000,and it's rigors end of discussion

LOL!! As you admittedly are about my racing and\or usage, the OP's usage and experience, etc. Discussion requires participation and willingness to share without preconceptions. So yeah, pretty much a dead end. :-laf

Racing is still racing, towing is still towing. That hasn't changed.

My .02 is ATF+4 works as expected for me in 908K I'm on my second transfercase. The first was replaced when the front driveline said I'm out of here and removed it. I change fluid every 30K.

Isn't the reason for using ATF+4, for if there is a leak between the transmission & the transfer case (At least with the automatic trans), there will be no cross contamination of the fluid, possibly ruining the transmission? Just my thoughts???

This would only be true on auto's :)

I run ATF +4 and it always looks fine at 50K mile interval changes. I do run Amsoil, which I believe is a better fluid than most.
