I have the manually operated (NV-271?) transfer case. I changed out the fluid and put in 2 qts which is what the Amsoil site says is the capacity. I have also read where you should fill the transfer case to the top of the fill plug. 2 quarts did not do this nor was the transfer case filled to the fill plug when I checked it from the factory.

What is the correct amount/level? If it is to the top of the fill plug any idea how many qts this is?

Thanks,

Tom

Nineback,

When I drained and refilled my x-fer case, it took 2. 75 qts to fill until ATF+4 started to drain out of the fill hole.

Good luck,

Louis

Nineback,

I found that using a clear flexible tube with a threaded end (these are sold at all auto stores next to the oil), it is very easy to add the oil into the x-fer case, rather than use a suction pump. There is so much room under our trucks, that you can easily get the bottle upside down above the x-fer case.

The clear flexible tube also has an ON-OFF feature by twisting the fitting. They retail for $5 or $6 at any store.

The AMSOIL ATF is universal, I assume its fine to use in our rigs. However, I find it rather expensive vs. the $4. 95/qt Valvoline full sythentic ATF+4 that you can get at Schucks.

Good luck.

Louis
