Transfer case nut

My neighbors are wondering why I spend so much time under my new truck! My rear diff was 1 quart low and the front was 1/2 quart low. Went to the dealer and they gave me a quart of each.

Do it yourself stuff. Anyway, been under it again and found I need a large allen wrench to check the transfer case (New Process) The local hock shop sells allen wrenches so I wouldn't't have to buy an entire set. I measure the fill nut to be 10mm. Could anyone tell me if I am right?

Don't buy allen wrench

Save your money, instead of buying a 10mm allen wrench, stop by your local hardward store and pick up a 1" bolt with a 10mm head and a couple of nuts. The bolt head goes into the transfercase plug and use a socket on the two nuts that you have tightened together, and Bingo you had the perfect little tool to remove that plug, and for less than a buck.

EnLjones, I know I probably shouldn't be asking this on this thread but, how do you like your Aeroturbine Muffler? I've been thinking about getting one for my '03, HO,6-sp. Thank You, Joe F ihn (Buffalo) PS- Are you glad you pulled out the ring in the turbo?

Yes it is 10mm, and on my truck the NV4500 just on the other size was 3/8".



I though I got rid of this Standard metric mix with the 1990 Ford, guess not maybe next time.



And they told me in 3rd grade in 1972 that we would be metric by 1980... . Hmmm now I have to have two sets of tools... . I guess it was good for the economy

Thanks for the tip Ed. Saves me from having another otherwise worthless tool around. Can't understand why they have an allen wrench here when a 3/8" socket square drive would have worked as well.
